Katherine Heigl has opened up about her childhood living in "a the white bubble." She also shares the impact that this realization has had on her parenting of adoptees who are multi-racial. She was in the movie "Firefly Lane" spoke to the media that it was not important what color her skin was to her. But after having a conversation with her adopted Korean American older sister she realized the difference between how others took care of her. Meg was asked if she was treated differently in the times they went out with their parents and then the time they were on their own. Meg replied "Oh I do, each and every time!" Heigl talked to parents about how she realized her naivet . She confessed that she was mad and felt that she had to channel this anger to assist her children. Heigl is the mother of a 4-year-old son with her 13-year spouse, Josh Kelley. They took in Nancy Leigh (age 12) from South Korea and Adalaide (age 8), who is black, in 2009.
